The placer gold drum screen is a core pretreatment device in the placer gold ore beneficiation process, widely used in riverbeds, ancient river channels, and alluvial placer gold mining operations. It integrates screening, washing, and desliming, efficiently separating large pieces of waste rock and mud from gold-bearing materials, thus improving the processing efficiency of subsequent gravity separation equipment and the gold recovery rate.
Working Principle

The gold-collecting drum screen achieves dynamic screening and washing of materials through an inclined rotating drum. During operation, a motor drives the drum to rotate around its axis via a reducer, and the material enters the drum through the feed inlet. Under the combined action of the drum's inclination and rotation, the material continuously tumbles and moves. Fine particles (such as gold-bearing sand) pass through the screen and fall as undersize products, while large pebbles move along the drum towards the end and are discharged as oversize products.
Simultaneously, the equipment is equipped with a high-pressure spray system to powerfully wash the ore inside the drum, effectively removing clumps of mud and clay that encapsulate gold particles, preventing gold loss. Some models also feature a beater or baffle to prevent screen clogging and ensure continuous and stable operation.
Product Structure
The gold-collecting drum screen mainly consists of the following components:
- Drum Unit: The core screening component, typically employing a multi-layer screen design, made of wear-resistant high-manganese steel or stainless steel;
- Drive System: Includes a motor, reducer, coupling, or sprocket drive system;
- Frame and Support Structure: Supports the entire machine; some sections feature a movable wheeled base for easy field operation.
- Spray Washing System: Consists of a water pump, pipes, and nozzles, enabling simultaneous screening and washing.
- Inlet and Outlet: Connects to an excavator or loader at the front for loading, and discharges coarse and fine materials at the rear.
- Sealing Cover and Dust Cover: Reduces dust and water splashes, meeting environmental protection requirements.
- Striking Frame or Screen Cleaning Device: Prevents screen clogging and improves operational stability.
Some integrated gold mining equipment also integrates modules such as drum screens, scrubbing buckets, and sluices to form a complete mobile gold mining production line.

Product Advantages
- High screening efficiency: The rotary screening method ensures thorough material dispersion and high grading accuracy, with a screening efficiency exceeding 95%.
- Strong cleaning ability: Built-in high-pressure water washing system, particularly suitable for placer gold mines with high mud content, achieving a desliming rate of ≥80%.
- High adaptability: Can process raw ore with particle sizes ranging from a few millimeters to 200mm, suitable for various ore bodies such as river sand, dry land, and weathered ore.
- Stable operation and convenient maintenance: Simple structure, no complex vibrating parts, low failure rate, and low maintenance cost.
- Mobile operation: Diesel engine drive + wheeled chassis design, suitable for field mining areas with limited electricity, offering high mobility.
- Environmentally friendly and energy-saving: No chemical agents required, no harmful emissions, in line with the concept of green mining.
