Jigging Machine

Jigging machines use water as the mineral medium and belong to the deep-ditch separation process, separating ore from gangue based on weight ratio differences. The sawtooth wave jig is a high-efficiency and energy-saving gravity separation equipment, widely used in the separation of metallic and non-metallic minerals. It represents a technological innovation based on the traditional jig, significantly improving the recovery rate and separation accuracy of fine-grained minerals by optimizing the water flow pulsation characteristics. It has become an indispensable key piece of equipment in modern mineral processing.

Working Principle

The core of the sawtooth wave jig lies in its unique sawtooth-shaped pulsating water flow curve: the upward water flow is rapid and powerful, lasting only a short time, quickly loosening the bed; the downward water flow is slow and stable, lasting a longer time, providing sufficient settling time for heavy mineral particles. This "fast rise, slow fall" motion mode overcomes the shortcomings of traditional sinusoidal wave jigs, where the upper and lower water flows are symmetrical and the action time is the same. It enhances the loosening of the bed, alleviates the suction effect, and allows denser minerals (such as gold, tungsten, and tin) to effectively settle to the bottom as concentrate, while lighter gangue is carried away by the water flow.

This process relies entirely on water as the separation medium, belonging to physical beneficiation methods. It requires no chemical reagents, is environmentally friendly, and has low operating costs.

A sawtooth wave jig mainly consists of the following key components:

  1. Jig Chamber (Tank): Contains the slurry and screen plates, typically rectangular or trapezoidal in design, with its width gradually increasing along the ore flow direction to facilitate uniform flow velocity.
  2. Screen Plates: Located at the bottom of the jig chamber, commonly made of perforated steel plates, screen mesh, or grates, supporting the bed and allowing water flow.
  3. Transmission Device: Driven by cams, eccentric shafts, or hydraulic systems, generating asymmetrical reciprocating motion to form a sawtooth wave pulsation.
  4. Electromagnetic Speed-Regulating Motor: Enables stepless adjustment of the stroke rate to adapt to the needs of different ore properties.
  5. Water Supply System: Includes flanges, water pipes, and a distributor, used to regulate the amount of water flowing under the screen and control the bed density.
  6. Discharge System: Divided into over-screen discharge and under-screen discharge methods, discharging light and heavy products respectively.

Some large-scale equipment adopts a "three-power" drive structure (such as the 8-3 type), with three independent transmission cone buckets that can adjust the parameters of each chamber separately, thereby improving the overall separation performance.
